Hi,

Whenever I start a new call or pick up a call, I can only listen/talk to speaker phone.

The handset is working on other 7960.

I tried with CallManager and also asterisk SIP PBX.

Any idea?

Thanks ...

Sounds like a bad hookswitch to me.

We've had several of bad hookswitches on our sets.

Look at the display on the phone to see if it changes

to off Hook status whenever you pick up the handset.

I can tell you how to fix it if it is the hookswitch

Let me know.

Pablo

Hi Pablo,

When I pick up the handset, the icon on the display does not change.

It only changes when I click on speaker phone.

Sounds like the problem you know.

Thanks a lot.

You may want to check out this document regarding the 7900 series hookswitch:

I cannot tell you how many 7960's of ours this has happened to. Thanks so much for posting the link to that article.

Great tips & tricks

Hi,

According to an account manager, its a new feature in Cisco 7912. Dont laugh, I´m not kidding.

Cisco present this seriously as a new, great feature.

greetings, sebbo

You can clean your switch and it might help

You can keep pressing down and letting go of the switch with your finger for 15-20 times at a constant speed, this will clean up the contacts for the switch, you can also use some water and a cloth to clean the switch.

I have also seen the handset go bad.

Almost 4 years betwen a post and another. I believe this is a record.
