7960 phone can't access settings

I'm trying to manually configure a 7960 IP Phone because we don't have a DHCP server, but it just sits there showing "Configuring IP" and pressing the settings button does nothing.

I've tried a factory reset but it made no difference.

Any ideas how I can get into the settings screen?

Thanks

I have usually seen that when you hit the settings button while its on a "Configuring ip" loop, Hit the settings button again after a waiting a couple of seconds should show the settings page.

presumably though waiting a couple of seconds was giving it time to get an IP and thus get out of the loop.

as long as its normal behaviour, thats ok. i'll have to try hooking up to DHCP first, but it seems pretty stupid if you have to have an IP before you can get in the settings menu.
