7961G boot up icon question

I've got a question. When our 7961G's boot up there is either a checkmark icon or a large X icon. I haven't been able to find out what they mean yet though. Does anyone know?

Have seen this on CallManagaer Express when phones with older CME images or CallManager images register. Ensuring the phone loads the correct CME image for that version of CME makes the cross go away.
