do you see the phone load file in the TFTP folder in callmanager ? If you can see the file, try manually specifying the phone load name in the device defaults page.
No need to create a new field. On the device defaults page you have each load file name specified in a text box against the corresponding IP Phone. Change the value in the text field to reflect the new file name. You can get the file name by looking at the TFTP folder in the Callmanager.
Make sure you have applied at least SR2 for 3.3(3) to provide support for the 7970.
