7970g - Can the display turn on with incoming call?

Is it possible for the 7970G phone to turn the display on when an incoming call is received? i.e. Phone display goes into sleep mode at 7pm, call comes in at 8pm you have to press the button or pickup the receive to see whos calling.

I have seen this at two sites with CCM 4.1 and latest software on the 7970G.

7970 incoming call should wake up screen saver

Symptom: Blank screen on incoming call, cannot see caller ID

Condition: Screen saver active

Workaround: touch the screen prior to answering call

A quick read of this defect might make someone think "why not just turn the

screen on when a call comes in, then turn it off if the call isn't terminated?"

There are a couple of problems that have to be taken into account in order to have a good solution for this.

First, one of the reasons we turn off the display is for users in a hotel or other hospitality setting. Many of these people do not want a bright display flashing in their dark room.

Second, call centers use display blanking to reduce power consumption. If phones are lighting up constantly due to incoming calls, they lose this asset.

So the important thing to note is that any resolution of this Sev6 defect needs to take these type of settings into account. A blind reversal of the feature operation would be a bad thing.

in the latest load i've seen for 4.1 there is no 'wake on call' feature for the screen.

you can of course set the ccm phone configuration to turn this on at a specific time or leave it on 24 hours if you like.
