Hi,
does anyone have experiences if 79xx ip phones (except 7905 ;-) ) work in a h.323 only environment? I would like to install a test environment to convince our CEO/CFO that VoIP really works and is worth spending money on it.
Project is planned as follows:
1. Setup open source h.323 gatekeeper with two ip phones
2. let CEO/CFO test it some days
3. hopefully get budget
4. get a 1760 with more ip phones
Thanks in advance,
Stefan

Unless you develop your own phone load for the 7960 phones this will not work. THe phones support the skinny load to be used with CCM or ITS. THey support the MGCP load to be used with a call agent and the SIP load to be used with a proxy server. no plain h323 load to interact with the gatekeeper. The closest you could come is probbaly ITS where you would register the phones with the router and have the router act as a gatekeeper as well.

That's strange for CCO says, h.323 is supported...
"The phone operates with IP telephony systems based on Cisco CallManager technology, H.323, or Session Initiated Protocol (SIP)."

Although, I tend to believe an experienced professional more than a website ;-)
