Have anyone tried to get an IP Phone to work via cable modem or DSL using VPN and static IP on the phone to connect to the network. Is this is possible?

The answer is yes. Works just as well as if you were directly connected. As a matter of fact, I run softphone on my cable modem at home and work 1 day a week out of my home. You'll need a higher speed line and a VPN connection.

Thanks but I am not talking about SoftPhone, I am talking about a 7910, 7940.... phones.
Thanks...

We have a few people, myself included, that has a 7960 with a shared-line configuration (sharing the same office extension) over a Branch office tunnel. I'd recommend G.729 (make a new region in CCM) when over the Internet... :-)

Hi LENNY,
Are you using LAN-to-LAN tunnel or client to server solution.

I have a 7960 phone in my home office that duplicates the phone in my work office. I have a Cisco 806 router with an encrypted GRE tunnel between the 806 and my router at work. It works great.

LAN to LAN... but client would work if you were using SoftPhone...

The VPN 3002 hardware client allows you to run as a client, and use a 79XX phone.
