I have a user logged onto a W2K domain and their Exchange 5.5 mailbox hosted in another domain (two-way trust exist between domains). The user happily accesses their Outlook 2000 inbox but cannot use ViewMail to play back the voice message to their Cisco handset. The primary account configured in their exchange mailbox is the same that they use to logon. The error message is "The account used to log onto windows is not associated with a subcriber. To use the telephone you must be logged into the account associated with your subscriber account" .
Any ideas

So is the use logging into a domain that is different from the one that Unity is in?
The way Unity validates the user, it needs to do it on the account in the same domain as Unity. This was a known issue iwht 2.4.6 line.
In Unity 3.0(x) and higher we resolved this by storing the SIDs from both the domains in a SQL table and using it to validate subscribers coming from a different domain.

yep, the user's authenticating in a different domain to unity 2.4.6. Time to migrate this bod to 3.1 in the same domain.
