Adjusting echo cancellation and clipping

System: CallManager 4.1 connected with 4 FXO lines.

When on a call, it seems like echo cancellation is kicking in. The end/beginning of the remote party's sentences sometimes get "clipped". "Can you repeat that please?"

If the remote party is in a noisey environment (background noise) the clipping does not usually occurr.

Where are some areas to troubleshoot for this type of problem?

Thanks very much

Re: Adjusting echo cancellation and clipping

That sounds more like VAD (voice activity detection) than echo cancellers. VAD saves bandwidth but often causes the clipping you describe. You can disable VAD under the VOIP peers (no VAD) for H323, or if MGCP it is a Call Manager service parameter (silence suppression).

Re: Adjusting echo cancellation and clipping

Added the no VAD command on the dial-peers of the H323 gateway.

That fixed it, much better. Thanks for the super fast response and help!
