When my cisco 1750 Gateway receives a Setup message, it sends back:
1.Call Proceeding message
2.Connect message
and any facility request replies to the incoming device. Is there a configuration parameter/IOS feature build that will force the cisco to add an "Alerting" message to this stack. The reason is that we have a softswitch that only sends a ring back after receiving the "Alerting" message from the cisco. Unfortunately, my cisco doesn't send the Alereting message at all. Any ways i can make that happen?
Thanks in advance

I assume you are referring to the H.225 signaling. Can you say if the Call Proceeding message contains a Progress Indicator IE and if so what is the value of the IE? If the 1750 is not sending Alerting message then in the Call Proceeding it should at least include the PI to advise the H.323 peer (the softswitch) that the call is progressing.

You can use the global configuration command "voice call send-alert" in the Gateway.
