assign static ip on ip phone?

dear sir,

We have around 300 ip phone that got the ip address from dhcp server . The dhcp server is setup at the publisher . We have 1 publisher & 1 subscriber (callmanager version 4.1(3)sr2 in a cluster. We wish to configure only 1 ip phone with static ip address . Any guidance how to do it? what's the negative impact? please advise. thank you.

Re: assign static ip on ip phone?

Plug the phone, press the Settings button and go to Network Configuration. To unlock the phone press **#

Go to the DHCP Enabled and change it to NO

Now you can go to the IP Address and hardcode what you want.

This procedure shouldn't have a negative impact.

Re: assign static ip on ip phone?

Is this a 7960/7940 ? Menu options i mention here can be different.

Select Settings - > Network Config -> Hit **# and the lock on the top right hand corner of the phone will unlock. Now you can edit settings on the phone.

Option 33 - > Erase config. This will wipe out the existing config on the phone to defaults.

Option 31 which disables DHCP. Then scroll all the way up to IP address option and

click edit, key in the ip address. To put a dot between octets, you can use the softkey or hit *.

The same way, key in the subnet mask, default gateway and tftp address and hit save.

THe phone will reboot and use the static address.
