AT&T SS7 Links Over Dual SONET Rings

Is anyone currently running a version of the ICM, 4.1.5 or 4.6.2 have AT&T SS7 Links running over a dual SONET ring instead of having it terminated at the D-MARC? Please advise.

Re: AT&T SS7 Links Over Dual SONET Rings

II doubt that you'll find anyone with that architecture as the standard deployment is two 56k circuits termed to a DEMARC. I don’t know anyone in North America that deviates from this design.

Check with your AT&T rep to see if this can be done as far as they’re concerned (I know that they have their own AIN CRP requirements). ICM doesn’t care how the circuits get to the Network Gateway (aka NIC) as long as network delay is managed within maximum requirements. Although, you might get yourself into a bind since your suggestion would introduce a circuit path that AT&T doesn’t have contractual control over. That would certainly raise an interesting troubleshooting scenario. ;-)
