I have read through all Cisco documentations and it seems ATA only supports g 711 for faxes. Is this a limitation or will g 729 later be supported for faxes.
The G.729 codec was designed for a speech payload, not for music or FSK or modem tones. Since the ATA only supports fax passthrough and not fax relay (like some gateways), I don't think there's an alternative when using that gateway at the moment.
