ata186 and cable modem

I want to use ata 186 connected to a cable modem dlink dcm200. the ata will send a call using h323 and for a gateway cisco 5300. What do I need to do this by using real static ip address or dchp server. We are no usign call manager or something like that.

Assigning either a static IP address or using a DHCP server instead, doesnt make much difference.As far as I know, it is one and the same. By default, in version 2.x and above , the DHCP server is the option. This can be changed to the static IP address also. More info on this in the following document:
