Auto-line pickup on incoming call - CCM 4.1.3

We have an office that recently moved from a key system to a CCM system. We have numerous shared lines overlayed on several buttons on the phones. The users are having an issue where they go to make an outbound call and accidentally answer an incoming call. They want to set the phones up to not auto-answer the incoming call, but want instead to select a line either outgoing or incoming at all times.

Can this be done on the CCM? It appears to be an option on the CME, but we have not been able to find anything like this on the CCM. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hi Gary,

Have you tried this setting;

Set the Always Use Prime Line parameter to True in Cisco CallManager. Because this parameter is clusterwide, any change affects all the phones. There is no interruption to the call handling and no need to restart any service or reboot the Cisco CallManager server.

In order to change this parameter, log in to the Cisco CallManager Administration page and perform these steps:

From the Service menu, choose Service Parameters.

Choose Publisher CallManager Server > Cisco CallManager service.

Under the Clusterwide Parameters (Device - Phone) section, scroll down to the Always Use Prime Line parameter, choose True for this parameter, and click Update.

This will prevent users from accidently picking up the wrong line.

I dont think setting Always use prime line will work in this case. Default value for this parameter is False. When you set this to true, it will always select the primary line for incoming and outgoing. I doubt if the same feature that is available in CME is available in CM.

This did actually fix what the users were wanting. However, by initiating this, we upset the other 50% of the users that liked this functionality.

You can configure the Auto Line Select feature on a per phone basis. On the Phone COnfiguration page scroll all the way down to the bottom. Under Product Specific Configuration there is a checkbox for Auto Line Select.
