auto qos voip with IP Phone/Soft Phone

Hello there,

Can the "auto qos voip" command apply to IP phone traffic? I have 2 branch offices connect to HQ. Each site has 1 router act as voice gateway and WAN connection. The CallManager 3.x is located at HQ. I got a problem about calling between IP phone/Soft Phone across site but do not have any problem when calling between analog phone across site. I already configured the "auto qos voip" command on each router. Is it enough?

YES,

autoQoS does apply to IP phone traffic.

you may want to specifically mark packets appropriately for the SoftPhone specifically at the switch port. (L2 markings)

also, you can try the command:

'switchport priority extend trust'

this will enable the switch to trust the priority from the PC port, as this is where your SoftPhone is coming from.

NOTE: softphone marks voice at L3 only.
