I meant to ask yesterday, what error are you getting? it's the most crucial bit of info here ;)
So I tried myself and look what I found:
ODBC Error: XML is a large text column. This column cannot be selected with more than one other column.
Even if you leave the TOP 3 or LIMIT BY 3 away (which you also didn't try... ), you get the same error. So then I opened the data schema and looked at the Device table and sure enough there's a column called XML of type TEXT. So heed the ODBC error and make your select not return the XML column and you're fine.

You don't need whole tables anyways pretty much regardless of what you do.. the device table has so many links, to get some useful info back you'll have to make a bunch of joins anyway and selectively pick fields from different tables.
