Use the DiRT backup utility found at www.ciscounitytools.com
This will export your configuration to a flat file
Then backup that file and the DiRT backup and restore files (since you need to use the same version to recover) using the tools of your choice. Veritas is always a solid choice.
In case of a recovery you will rebuilt a clean Unity server (if you have a ghosted copy of a clean install you can have a quick recovery). Do not do any configuration on the unity server. Restore your backup of the DiRT backup and recovery files and the flat file unity backup. Install DiRT Restore. Then run the DiRT restore (make sure it is the same version that you used for the backup). Your system should be back up and running.
