Barcode scanner for ip phone rollout

I am doing a rollout of 152 phones and was wondering if anyone has used a barcode scanner to scan the barcode right off of the box, and into word, xcel. Then this info can be put into the bat. I didn't know if you needed some special software or just the scanner by itself.

I've done just that a couple times and it works fine!

Used a bar code scanner with a keyboard wedge - that way Excel just thinks the information is being typed in - then imported via BAT.

It's useful to have labels with the DN/User's Name on it to stick on the boxes as they are scanned.

Hello,

Yes we are doing that for every installation.

You will need a barcode reader which connect in parallel with

the keyboard (PS/2 plug) and goes in Excel and capture the

MAC addresses directly in the BAT file. You don't need any

additional software.

Kind regards

We use them w/ the BAT and have had great success. It's a major time-saver.
