This is more of a rhetorical question, or perhaps just an observation, but have you noticed that every guide to best practices you'll see says to use IP addresses in your CallManager config instead of hostnames for your servers, which is the default. Since everyone--including Cisco--agrees on this, why doesn't Cisco just make IP addresses the default and force people to change them to hostnames should they choose to do so?
At some point, best practices should become the default settings, where possible.
