We routinely use the BAT tool to add from 5 to 100 IP Phones at a time. It is a HUGH time saver.
We are also experiemnting with TAPS, which so far looks great. TAPS allows you to use auto number and BAT. You BAT in the phones and then the users use an auto attendant to configure their individual IP Phone. This is great because you don't have to specifically asign a user to a specific IP Phone.
