A user has call forwarded his POTS line to a VOIP 5 digit number. As long as he is at his VOIP number his number is forwarded. In the event he is not there, Unity vm does not function. The response is 'enter your ID number'. Does anyone have any idea why Vm does not function while forwarding calls?

Check your Unity routing rules for "fowarded calls" You probably have the first rule set to "sign in". Move this down the list and it should work then.

We found out what the issue is...
So to review this was what was happening... If a PSTN or on net call dialed the POTS line forwarded to a VOIP DN, the voice mail wouldnt work. The reason is... on Unity using Call Viewer the dialed number isnt the VOIP DN but the POTS line. The person was forwarding the call using functions on the phone itself instead of having calls forwarded from the PBX. So the fix is to have the PBX send the forward instead of the phone. Then Unity will recognize the DN number and VM is triggered.
