This basic functionality is included when you configure a Publisher and a Subscriber CallManager(s).

Traffic is "balanced" among CallManagers using device pools and CallManager groups. The database is synchronized via SQL subscriptions.

Hi,

This is usual scenario acording to AVVID,

You install One publisher and one subscriber to achieve his.

This links might be helpfull:

Also Cisco Press's Cisco IP Telephony is verry detailed about this solution.

Good Luck:)

thanks for you kin reply, I am having the two CM here in my Lab and I will update you with the results. but the question is cant I make a backup server as a Publisher, I mean that the two servers are Publisher!!?. and If not can I convert a Publisher server to a subscriber one without reinstalling the CM??

You can not have two Publishers. The problem is that only one of your SQL servers could have "master copy" of your databases.

Theoretically it's possible to have a shared SAN or iSCSI partition, where your SQL and DC databases will reside, and build "Windows Cluster" to do load balance between these Publishers, but Cisco officially does not support this scenario. So, you will be at your own...

And if you really want to have DR for your servers, the simpliest "official" way could be having a spare HDDs, which you will swap from time to time. If you primary Publisher crashes, you just take a HDD from the pool, insert it into the same or similar machine, and boot from this disk. After you booted up, you insert another HDD and synchrinize RAID.

Another way of doing DR could be in using SAN or iSCSI, doing a realtime backup to NAS, etc., but nither of these scenarios recommended and supported by Cisco.

Good luck,

Mike
