The informal word I've heard is that the controlled release of 4.0(1) may be in February, and general release is still midyear sometime. This means no customers are going to be running it until at least June or July. If you're a partner and you have the right contacts you might be able to test during controlled release.
To give an example of how tight a controlled release is, how many people were running CallManager 3.3(1)? Nobody I know. Don't set expectations with your customers that CallManager 4 will be available soon.
