call manager with asterix

hi we have call manager 4.1 , i have installed a asterixsip serevr with sip phones.

iam able to call from cisco to non cisco and visa versa.

but this only possible when i set the codec fo cisco phones as g.711.

it is not working when i change it to g.729.

what should i do please help

Hi,

CCM 4.1 SIP trunks only support G.711.

So you will need to have CCM 5.0 to integrate your Asterisk using other codec.

For CCM 4.X

SIP trunks provide connectivity to other SIP devices such as gateways, proxies, voicemail systems, and other Cisco CallManager clusters. SIP trunks have the following characteristics that differ from H.323 trunks:

•G.711 A-law and mu-law codec support

In order to support G.729 on Asterisk, you need to purchase G.729 license ( 10$) from Digium. Take a look into asterisk log files , it should give you error messgae, like no codec match or something like that. Let me know if it helped to solve the prob.
