"dynamic" CAC for call manager / avvid
Is there a plan to provide a mechanism ( RSVP ?) in call manager so a tandem IP network can be designed without relying on static bandwidth mechanisms in either call manager or an external gatekeeper ?
Is Cisco planning on supporting SIP endpoints - with supplemental features ( conference, transfer, hold ) ?
RSVP is still being looked at long-term as a better solution for Call Admission Control. I can't give any expected timeframes yet because they are not known.
The most likely initial implementation at this point looks to be a separate entity/device that will act as an RSVP proxy, and calls with reserved bandwidth will flow through this device. The initial support for RSVP will be for ICT (Inter Cluster Trunk) calls between CallManager clusters. This will provide support for a more diverse network topology than H.323-GK CAC supports, which is hub and spoke only... with a long term goal of implementing RSVP client capabilities in the devices doing the audio streaming, such as phones/gateways.
As far as SIP support in Cisco CallManager, that is also being looked at long-term, but nothing has yet been decided as to the if and to what extent. Stay tuned.
SIP traces provide key information in troubleshooting SIP Trunks, SIP
endpoints and other SIP related issues. Even though these traces are in
clear text, these texts can be gibberish unless you understand fully
what they mean. This document attempts to br...
