Call recording

Is there a way for a user to record calls in CCM 4.2?

CCM does not have that feature build in, but there are a lot of third party companies that integrate with CCM to provide such a feature. Check out telrex callrex product.

You can't record directly from a feature within CCM 4.2, but if you use Cisco Unity 4.0(5)+ or Unity Connection, you can use the Live Record feature. With this feature, you conference in the Unity system which records the conversation and saves it in your inbox the same as it would for a voicemail. You can do it with Unity 4.0(3) and 4.0(4), but its not TAC supported.
