Caller ID not working on inbound calls

I am having problems getting the incoming (calls)caller id displaying on 7960 phones. The message that I get is From external call (unknown number). Is there a feature that I need to enable. When I make an outside call to a sprint phone, the caller id from the ip phone displays fine. But, when I try to call the number of the IP Phone, i get the message From external call (unknown number). Any info would be gladly appreciated.

What type of gateway are you using? Do you have a PRI or are you using POTS lines?

I have an H323 gateway and a PRI line.

Talk to your carrier and see if they are passing it.Across your PRI

It can also depend on what information the calling party is sending. Many systems and/or situations may result in loss of B-number.
