Caller ID on FXS

Hi,

I have an analog phone that connects at FXS port of my VG at 3/0, and i have the following config:

voice-port 3/0

station-id number 3100

caller-id enable

If this is the scenario, when my client use that phone to make any "within same premise' calls, then 3100 will show up which is fine.

But say if the client makes PSTN calls (e.g. to 911), would the outgoing Caller ID still show up as only 3100?

If so, is there any way to differentiate so for internal calls only, it will show as 3100, but for external calls, the outgoing caller ID will show as (02)9231-3100?

Would appreciate if someone can shed some light on this.

Re: Caller ID on FXS

What type of external connection do you have to your PSTN ? FXO ? PRI ? For FXO caller id is out of your control. For PRI or CAS you can use a translation profile on the dial peer to change the caller id.

Re: Caller ID on FXS

Hi Sankar,

It is a PRI. So would the translation profile be on the POTS dial peer? Can you please kindly give some e.g. on how it can be done on the dial peer?

Kind Regards,

Hunt
