Callmanager failover

I have a silly question.. I have three callmanagers in a cm group

Sub, pub, sub in that order. When I failed the first two and left the third sub some devices like gateways (2801) VG248's started failing...

The PUB is the only TFTP server. I know it should be sub, sub, pub in the group but it was this way for a reason so why are some devices failing..

When a phone fails to the third callmanager does it reregister ?? fully ?

The gateways are MGCP...VG248 is SCCP

Ideas I must be loosing my mind

Re: Callmanager failover

Did you have multiple redundant hosts setup in MGCP ?

ccm-manager redundant-host

VG248 should have automatically pulled the group information from CCM.

Re: Callmanager failover

I am not sure if you said that only the GW are having this issue or phones as well, but have you checked that the second SUB has CCM service running?

Re: Callmanager failover

Thanks for the replies. Yes I have the cm service running on all servers.

Yes it is phones as well as gateways and v248

I suspected that the vg248 should have pulled the ccm list.

As for the gateway I think I do have both hosts but I can double check..

I was concerned about having a single TFTP server.

Things got bad after failing the pub which was #2 in the group that is why I wondered what happens when the third callmanager kicks in.

I know that in a normal state that the phones talk to the primary and secondary callmanagers and that is why I wonder what happens when the second callmanager fails and the third one takes over from a phone perspective.

Thanks again guys
