Can a single Unity 3.x server have multiple locations assigned to it?

I have a hybrid install with Unity servers being deployed across a global

enterprise. By hybrid I mean in some situations a CCM/Unity install is

dedicated to a particular site, and in other cases, small 8-15 user small

branch sites will use a larger sites CCM/Unity.

I am aware of the single alpha directory limitation preventing Unity from

being multi-tenant, but I am wondering if it is possible in the 3.x

release to assign multiple "primary locations" to one Unity server.

The desire is to use area code + exchange + extension as a users

voicemail account. The area code + exchange is used as the network

ID and the extension is the real 4 digit extension assigned to the users

account. This would generally work.

If I set up my primary location as 847385 to cover the base Unity users in

the Chicago location,and I want to cover a sales office in Northern Indiana

with a "primary location" of 219321, can this be done with the same Unity

server that can serve in the enterprise Unity digital network?

For discussions sake, both sites dial plans are unique.

The end result is that I would like to avoid a Northern Indiana user to be

addressed as 847385, or hear in a dial by name response that "user x

at location Chicago. . .".

Can this be done? Or is this another unity 4.x solution?

No, you can only have a single primary location object per Unity install in 3.x and, for that matter, in 4.x.

What it sounds like you really want is multiple dialing domains per Unity server (i.e. proper directory segementation allowing multiple users on the same Unity server to have the same extension but be in different dialing segements). This is not supported in 3.x and is not planned in 4.x. They have a planning initative for proper tenant services support for future versions of Unity that will include such directory segmenetation features but at this moment it's not on deck.
