Can Analog and IP Phones share lines?

Does this work? I have a client that wants to do this for the purpose of setting up and external ringer in a loud warehouse.

Does anyone know of a pure IP external ringer?

Hi Ross,

I'm not aware of a pure IP ringer box.

But yes, you can have an IP phone and an analog port share a line. You can do this with a VG248 port, ATA port, or MGCP FXS port from an IOS gateway (not the 6624 card).

Re: Can Analog and IP Phones share lines?

Hi,

What we have done for a cutsomer of ours is just install an analog phone with a relais from a telco provider inbetween that goes to a external bell. In this way when the analog phone rings the external bell also rings. Just ask a locale telco provider to place a relais inbetween.
