Can I browse extensions available in the callmanager from the IP Phone ?

Greetings,

Is it possible to browse the whole extensions from the IP Phone, I am not talking about returning a call for pre-dialed number, I am talking about browsing all the extensions which is available in the callmanager from the IP phone.

Please let me know how I can do it plus it will be great if you provide me a link illustrating the accomplishment of this feature.

Re: Can I browse extensions available in the callmanager from th

Hi Ismail,

You only need to configure a url if you don't want to use the local directory. Have a look;

The Cisco CME system automatically creates a local phone directory according to the telephone numbers that are assigned during ephone-dn configuration. Additional entries to the local Cisco CME directory can be made using the directory entry command. The additional numbers can be nonlocal numbers, such as telephone numbers of other Cisco CME systems used by the same corporation.

By default, the router automatically uses the local directory service. Provisioning the directory URL to select an external directory resource disables the Cisco CME local directory service. You can also disable the local directory by entering the no service local-directory command.

From this doc;

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps4625/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a00804ad85d.html#wp2175456

telephony-service

Example:

Router(config)# telephony-service

Enters telephony-service configuration mode.

Step 2

service local-directory

Example:

Router(config-telephony)# service local-directory

enables local directory service on IP phones.

Step 3

exit

Example:

Router(config-telephony)# exit

Hope this helps!

Hi Ismail,

Have you looked at setting up a directory which is accessed via the IP Phone? Have a look;

Re: Can I browse extensions available in the callmanager from th

Rob, thanks for your reply, can you please clear the following command for me :

Router(config)# telephony-service

Router(config-telephony)# url directories http://1.4.212.11/localdirectory

now the 1.4.212.11 should be my callmanager

but what about the localdirectory ? is this is html page? is all the callmanagers has the same html page name ?

Also I have confusion like where to list the MAC addresses inside the cisco unified callmanager ? is this mean that I have to add the extension and associate the name in the user page ?

Thanks in advance
