We are trying to setup a capacity planning session with a customer. The question came up concerning voice mail sent to a distribution list. Is a copy of the voicemail wave file set to every person in the list or is a single copy of the voicemail with wave file kept on the exchange 2k server. (single site).
We're just sending the message via Exchange and Exchange does implement "single source messaging" - each Exchange server that homes one or more of the recipients on the list will get one copy of the message and each recipient on that box will "point" to the message. You can get a lot more details on how Exchange does this on Microsoft's site if you need it - short story is each person does not get an individual copy of the message... that'd be bad.
