The question I have, if anyone knows the answer, is whether Cisco requires or suggests anywhere that CER clusters match CCM clusters on a 1-to-1 basis. That is, if I have three clusters for CCM but I COULD buy a CER server with the capacity to handle all those lines, is there any reason to buy three rather than just the one cluster?
With CER there are CER group & CER cluster. CER group is used for redundancy since there'r primary & backup servers (active/standby mode). This is what we recommend, for fail-over reason and not so much for 1:1 ratio.
For scalability you can use CER cluster, a group of CER groups. Each CER group within a CER cluster can serve a CCM cluster and movements of IP phones b/w CCM clusters can be tracked.
