CIP exam Question ... urrh ?

Hiya,

Just took the CIPT exam ... failed. It was tough.

There were questions in there that were not covered in the Cisco Press books. Gutted ! :-(

Any clues on this questions ??

What protocol is used for "peer-to-peer" gateways.

1) MGCP

2) SIP

3) H323

4) Skinny

urrhhhhhhhhh

My thinking ...

NOT MGCP because need a 3rd party Media Controller

NOT SIP 'cause use a SIP-Proxy

NOT H323 'cause use a gatekeeper

NOT Skinny 'cause that is used for IP-phone & CCM

What can it be ?

Any help appreciated.

I would go for h323. Actually you don't need a gatekeeper.Configuring proper dial peers on both gateways would be enough for voip.

Thx for the prompt post.

I see where your coming from.

However, for SIP: you don't actually need a SIP proxy either.

I have set up two Cisco 5300 using SIP directly.

Re: CIP exam Question ... urrh ?

SIP is not the right answer.

Eventhough the SIP client (SIP UA) such voice gateway, IP Phone etc can work by pointing to each other without the need of SIP Proxy, every SIP User Agent (SIP UA) has UAC(lient)/UAS(erver) function. The UAC function is to send Request message while UAS function is to reply with Response message

Thanks

Re: CIP exam Question ... urrh ?

Matt,

It's H323. SCCP (Skinny) and MGCP both follow a master/slave model.
