should circular logging be turned off when installing Unity<br><br>

you mean for the event log I assume. No reason to turn this off but be sure to crank up the size enough so you don't lose information over, say, a long weekend. Setting it up to 20 meg or so should be more than enough...

ah, ok... that's a different story.

If you're backing your server up nightly you can turn circular logging off and you're cool (this also allows you do do incramental backups... with circular logging you can only do full backups). If you're not backing up reguarly, you definitely do NOT want to turn off circular logging! The transaction logs will fill up your hard drive and you'll come to grief in a hurry.

My preference, of course, is to turn circular logging off and do backups nightly. Not everyone goes down that path...
