Cisco 7940 handset disconnects after one second

Hello,

We have two CISCO IP Phones that are experiencing problems. The model is the 7940.

What happens is that when the handset is picked up to place a call, or to answer the phone, it cuts off after about a second. HOWEVER, when speakerphone is used, it works fine.

Has anyone experienced this?

Hi Michael ... we have been using Cisco IPT for a few years now, and this is the most common failure we have experienced. It seems to be a problem with the Hookswitch on the 7940/7960 phones. The only fix is to replace the faulty phones.

Check with TAC as I remember reading that this was a known problem and that the phones in question could be RMA'd.
