Cisco 7940 IP Phone - Voice Mail Button Does Not Work.

We are setting up a cisco IP phone system using 7940 phones and the message button does not do anything. We are running version 4.0(2) of unity and version 3.3 of call manager. Does anyone know how to make this work?

Welcome to the wonderful world of Voicemail Pilots/Profiles. First step go to Features > Voicemail > Voicemail Pilot. This is the number that will be dialed to get to Voicemail (think of the messages button as a speed dial to this number). Be sure to check to make it the default and to fill out a CSS. Second got to Voicemail Profile, this allows you to mask digits if you want. You can just as easily use the NoMaskProfile. Once in there, make it the default and fill out the appropriate information.

You should be good to go after that, although you may need to reboot the phone.
