Cisco IP Phone 7970 not passing x-Cisco headers

We have a Cisco IP Phone 7970 Series Color, and when it makes a request it

Does not send x-CiscoIPPhoneModelName, x-CiscoIPPhoneDisplay, or

x-CiscoIPPhoneSDKVersion in the request headers.

How do I go about identifying this phone? Could it possibly be a firmware

Problem? This breaks our scripted “show it this way in color, that way in grayscale”

Functionality that the Cisco SDK docs say we’re supposed to be able to perform.

Is there a work around?

Re: Cisco IP Phone 7970 not passing x-Cisco headers

Unfortunately every so often what the documentation says doesn't correspond to reality. There are two things to be done here: 1) open a case with Cisco.. it's their mess to fix

2) in the meantime, there are other headers that can be used to identify the phone model. iirc it's the user agent header.. it doesn't explicitly tell you which phone model, but if you compare a http get from the different phone types, you'll see what I'm getting at - that header has remained static for a long time now so it's reasonably safe to use it instead. Or you search this forum for the details - they have been posted before.
