Cisco Meetingplace - Security Issue - Toll Free Number Hacking

Hi All UC Experts,

My MeetingPlace 8.5 suffered on the Toll Free Number Hacking. I discovered a security issue about the toll free number hacking.

PSTN (oversea) --- VG --- CUCM --- (SIP Trunk) --- MP8.5 (local)

We purchased a PSTN service, that is the monthly charge fee to dial in the MP number and will charge even joined the meeting or not (typed the correct MP id & password).

The hacker is using some programs to keep to dial in the MP number, so I paid the charge, but I cannot use the normal service.

I checked the MP log files, that is showed the hacking original numbers is UNKNOWN number. I do believe the oversea carrier will not show the original number for me only.

Any idea to block that on the MP? I tried I can try to attempt the wrong meeting id & password with many times. The MP IVR idle time is so long.  I cannot see I can set the attempt meeting times and the idle timeout to tune the limitations. Where can I set that?

Hi,

Hi,

If the hacker is calling with an unknown caller ID you can block it on the gateway itself using translation profiles:

voice translation-rule 1

rule 1 /^$/ reject

voice translation-profile block_hacker

translate calling 1

voice-port 0/0/0:15

translation-profile block incoming
