cm 3.3.3 Car Error Log Too Big, Truncate?

I received an email as car administrator that said the following:

Subject: Size(2799.0Kb) of ErrorLog went above the specified limit(1000Kb)

Sent: 8/15/2006 1:00 AM

Size of ErrorLog.txt has crossed the limit. Please truncate the ErrorLog

Now I have truncated the size of the car database before as per procedure, but what is this errorlog.txt file and what should I do with this?

Any help is much appreciated.

Hi,

You can increase size limit of ErrorLog.txt file from :

CAR >> System--> System Parameters--> System Preferences.

There is no way to shrink this file however you could delete records from both

tbl_error_id_map & tbl_billing_error(if there is any record) tables in ART DB.

However I would suggest increasing the file size instead of the above.

Thanks, I did think of doing that, but my other thought was thats just a band-aid, and won't it just keep growing and growing.. Is this a bad thing that it is reporting to me?

no, this may not necessarily be a bad thing being reported. it is simply stating that your errorLog.txt has gone above its set threshold for event monitoring purposes.

this is definately something you should research further though. view the log for all symptoms/errors that are being generated and attempt to remedy those.

if you have problems understanding any of it, post some output and we may be able to assist.
