CME, dialplan-pattern for direct & redirect case

Two ephones(4001 & 4002) installed in CME and have a question how works the dialplan-pattern for direct and redirect.

!

telephoney-service

..

dialplan-pattern 1 111222.... ext 4

!

-->show telephony-service dial-peer

dial-p v 20001

destination pattern 4001$

!

dial-p v 20002

destination pattern 1112224001$

!

choose dial-peer 20001 when I direct dial "4001" and 20002 when call-forward to 4001 from 4002.

Is the e164 expantion via dialplan-pattern only applicable call-forward?

Thanks in advance,

Re: CME, dialplan-pattern for direct & redirect case

To add to that, here are a few more uses of dialplan pattern as per the Command reference manual

1. A dial-plan pattern is required to register the Cisco IP phone lines with a gatekeeper.

2. The pattern created by the dialplan-pattern command is also used to enable distinctive ringing for inbound calls. If a calling-party number matches a dial-plan pattern, the call is considered an internal call and has a distinctive ring that identifies the call as internal. Any call with a calling-party number that does not match a dial-plan pattern is considered an external call and has a distinctive ring that is different from the internal ringing.
