Codec Conversion to G729 from G711

The scenario is as follows

I have two sites and in one of the sites there are 2 gateways where 7T1 are terminated in each of them But, only one of the gateway would be active any time. The central controller and agents are in other location. The communication codec between both these sites is G.711 and I need to change the codec to G.729 now can you please help me out with the configuration changes that are required in the gateways and in callmanager. The site details are as follows

SITE-A:

Two Gateways and its model is 3845 and the IOS is 12.4 (22) T (Where 7 T1 are terminated)

SITE-B:

1. Call Manger Cluster (1-Pub , 2- Sub) version 6.1

2. Two VG's that is available in SITE-B and its model is 3845 and it's IOS is 12.4(15)T3 (1 E1 is terminated)

Can you help me out with the configuration steps that needs to be done for implementing the same. I have attached the shtech along this for both the sites

u have to configure transcoding

Re: Codec Conversion to G729 from G711

very briefly;

create 2 devicepools DP_SITEA & DP_SITEB

create 2 regions REG_SITEA & REG_SITEB

set codec between the regions to G729 but leave intra region codec g711

then add your devices to the appropriate devicepools of the site

You do not need transcoding. Along with the UCM change listed above you will need to change the voice class codec for the dial peers on the gateways to include g729 as an option.
