Re: Codec problem with unity and softphone

sorry for the empty post, here we go...

hi all,

i got an unity server in a lan and a couple of softphones installed on notebooks, and all seem to work great. the trouble arises when i try to use the softphone via a RAS (async) connection, because i need to use a low bandwidth codec on the softphones and unity does not seem to support other codecs appart from g711, the CM trace says that there is a codec mismatch.

Any suggestions?

Re: Codec problem with unity and softphone

You need to either use a transcoder with your CallManager that can take the LBR (low bit rate) codec calls and transcode them to G.711 to work with Unity, or you can enable the G.729 codec on Unity.

http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/788/AVVID/g729a_codec.html

Note that in the document, you only want to use the SetRecordFormat utility to change how the messages are actually stored in Exchange. If you just want to enable the codec, then install the codec itself and update the registry.
