hi all,

When I using E1 ISDN PRI on my gateway, what should i use in controller interface

ds0-group

or

 pri-group ?

What I know, that for ds0-group, is for E1 / T1 CAS, pri-group is for E1 /T1 isdn pri.

is it correct?

and, are it the same for E1 ISDN PRI  with E1 CCS?

thanks,

Jerri

Yes Jerri, you are correct. Use pri-group for E1/T1 ISDN.

CCS is called common channel signalling. This is what ISDN uses. It uses a single channel called the D channel to carry the signalling for the whole circuit. CAS (channel associated signalling) carries signalling information in the bearer channel.

So yes E1 ISDN PRI uses CCS

Hi Ayodeji,

One more question,

why in E1 CAS,

the command for timeslot is

ds0-group timeslot  1-15,17-31 type xxx?

as we know that, CAS, using robbed bit signaling.

why not

ds0-group timeslot  1-31 type xxx for the CAS?

and,

as far as I know, timeslot 1st for framing, why timeslot 1st, included in

ds0-group command

Thanks,

Jerri

Jerri,

E1 CAS is not my forte! I know almost nothing about it. You can check online to see if you find answers to this..
