conference using FXS ports?

Has anybody gotten conferencing using an analog phone plugged into an FXS port working?

The the gateway the FXS card is attached to is a 4224 running H.323. If needed I could use Call Manager to get it to work, or a hardware conference bridge, though neither option is desired.

Although you cannot initiate a conference from the device connected on the FXS port, it can very well participate in the conference.
