Configuring Outlook to dial a contact through CCM

Has anyone successfully setup Outlook to dial a contact through an IP Phone?

I've had a user request this feature, so I am attempting to setup a CTI route point to try and configure this.

I have installed the TAPI client on my pc, configured a CTI route point, and setup my user setting on CCM to allow CTI. I have also configured TAPI and Outlook to point to the call manager and the CTI port. But I keep getting an error when I try to dial the contact from outlook.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Re: Configuring Outlook to dial a contact through CCM

Hi, we have the same requests. I just found out that the IP Softphone can be used to dial from Outlook's contact file. We have setup the Softphone to control the customer's 7960 phone and it works great. The customer can dial directly from Outlook and the Softphone makes the call on the 7960 phone. The Journal option also works, which was another feature our customer wanted.

The only problem I have with the solution is the price. It cost's $150.00 per license for the Softphone.

You could have just installed softphones and had no hardphones, we where going to do this but found the extra cost of layer 3 QOS on our switch and also the softphones have not been design for call centres put us off the idea. If you are going to uses softphones with no hardphones. I would recommend a VXI USB headset.

Our company has developed an application to do just this. Check it out at http://www.network-data.com
