Configuring Siemens IP Phones with Cisco and Nortel Switches

Hi,

Guys our company is implementing VOIP and they are using Siemens phones

Just a run down on our network the core switch is passport the distributions switches are Baystack 5520 and the edge switches where ip phones are plugging in are Cisco 3560.

Please find below the configuration of the cisco switch.

interface FastEthernet0/4

switchport access vlan 5

switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q

switchport mode trunk

switchport voice vlan 25

Name: Fa0/4

Switchport: Enabled

Administrative Mode: trunk

Operational Mode: trunk

Administrative Trunking Encapsulation: dot1q

Operational Trunking Encapsulation: dot1q

Negotiation of Trunking: On

Access Mode VLAN: 5 (Data)

Trunking Native Mode VLAN: 1 (default)

Administrative Native VLAN tagging: enabled

Voice VLAN: 25 (Voice)

Administrative private-vlan host-association: none

Administrative private-vlan mapping: none

Administrative private-vlan trunk native VLAN: none

Administrative private-vlan trunk Native VLAN tagging: enabled

Administrative private-vlan trunk encapsulation: dot1q

Administrative private-vlan trunk normal VLANs: none

Administrative private-vlan trunk private VLANs: none

Operational private-vlan: none

Trunking VLANs Enabled: ALL

Pruning VLANs Enabled: 2-1001

Capture Mode Disabled

Capture VLANs Allowed: ALL

Switch#sh int f0/4 trunk

Port Mode Encapsulation Status Native vlan

Fa0/4 on 802.1q trunking 1

Port Vlans allowed on trunk

Fa0/4 1-4094

Port Vlans allowed and active in management domain

Fa0/4 1,5,25

Port Vlans in spanning tree forwarding state and not pruned

Fa0/4 1,5,25

The phone is getting the right ip address and which is 10.0.160.0. The problem is with the Pcs plugged back into the phones. They are getting the ip addresses in the range of 10.0.140.0 and which is our default vlan vlan 1. As seen from the above the data vlan is 5 and the pcs should get ip address from that vlan which is 10.0.150.0. Any suggestions / ideas ?

Tks

Re: Configuring Siemens IP Phones with Cisco and Nortel Switches

Harmander,

I am not sure that this is the best setup but you could try: "switchport trunk native vlan 5"

I don't think you would need "switchport access vlan 5"

Regards,

V.
