Converting from g729 back to g711?

We have a client who would like to convert their unity system from g729 to g711. I remember there being a registry hack for this. Will I also need to re-load the system prompts? Does this also mean that the client will need to re-record all existing greetings and custom call handlers in g711? Thanks in advance.

you can use the SetRecordFormat utility found under \commserver\utilities to change the default record format for all new recordings. There's no need to change your greetings and voice names over since they'll be converted on the fly to 711 as necessary. Changing over to the 711 prompts wont hurt (it'll save some CPU time since those wont have to be transcoded into 711 all the time).

If you don't want to even allow g729a at all you can remove the "G729 enabled" option in the registry. Aaron's G729a troubleshooting tips cover this:

I'd just convert the record format over and change your prompt set out and leave it at that myself.
